The Wake Of Magellan saw the band return to their more guitar-heavy, conceptual roots. Jon Oliva credited Chris Caffery and Al Pitrelli, among others, for contributing some riffs. On the surface, it was a typical Savatage album, but it was one with hidden depth and meaning.”‘The Wake Of Magellan’ was our third concept album and second with the new line-up. The LP reissue appears as a 180g double LP on black vinyl and as a limited collector’s edition on transparent orange vinyl. Both editions were mastered for vinyl and include a live bonus rarity with the song “Turns To Me (Live in Neu-Isenburg 1997)”. Both editions feature the original cover design and enhanced artwork, including a 12-page LP booklet. The limited collector’s edition also includes a lenticular cover card with the iconic cover illustration.
