Since punk historiography is predominantly male, a “Revenge of the She-Punks” was long overdue. This feminist reckoning was written by none other than post-punk pioneer Vivien Goldman, who has an insider’s perspective due to her work as a musician and music journalist. Along four thematic areas – identity, money, love and protest – the “punk professor” embarks on a search for empowering moments that punk holds especially for women. Inspired by the book (the German translation was published by Ventil Verlag in 2021), Vivien Goldman has reassembled this compilation and provided it with liner notes.
