Modeselektor – the Berlin duo of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary – finally join the ranks of the DJ-Kicks series, marking a long-held ambition in the same year that DJ-Kicks and !K7 Records celebrate milestone anniversaries.
Known for their restless creativity and refusal to follow a straight line, Modeselektor bring that same approach here. The mix was assembled quickly but instinctively, capturing their signature push-pull between club rhythms and more abstract, beatless selections. Features tracks from Untold, Ben Klock & Fadi Mohem, GAISTER, Little Simz, Maxime Denuc, and more.
Field recordings made on tour, including a snippet from a session in Kingston, Jamaica, add another layer to the mix. It’s a set built to be revisited—one that slowly reveals its hidden details and shifting contours over time. For Modeselektor, this isn’t just a compilation, but a snapshot of where their ears are at right now. “Don’t skip the tracks,” Szary laughs. “Just enjoy it.”
