Maximum High release their self-titled EP this month on their own label, Moving Coil Records. Recorded on vintage analog equipment at the band’s studio, with a DIY approach and an “anything goes” attitude, the EP features four songs – Long Ago, Don’t Let Me Down, Control My Love and Stay – that showcase their gritty yet melodic style. The Athens-based quartet incorporates elements of punk, soul and the blues with catchy vocal melodies, infectious riffs and relentless grooves, delivering a fresh rock sound with an old-school vibe. Irene Dimopoulou’s vocals alternate between a sultry lilt and a soulful snarl, demonstrating her wide emotional range, while the rest of the band plays with passion, confidence and a keen sense of dynamics.
